AI Agent Ideas is an independent directory of the best AI tools and AI agents by use case, written for beginners, vibe coders and builders. It lists 866 AI tools and 144 ready-made bots, each with a score and a short, plain-English verdict.
Who runs it
The site is run by Oystein, a retired IT technologist in Oslo, Norway. After a career in IT he started AI Agent Ideas to answer one question for ordinary people: which AI tool should I use for this job?
How tools are checked and scored
- Source check. Every listing links to the tool's official site. We check that link and show the date and HTTP status on the page (for example "source checked 2026-10-27 (HTTP 200)"). Tools whose official site does not load are left out.
- Ratings. Each tool is rated from 1 to 10 for usefulness, ease & price and trust.
- Tool Score. Tool Score = 0.40 × usefulness + 0.30 × ease & price + 0.30 × trust, on a 0–10 scale. Category pages rank tools by this score.
- Fit, not just quality. A high score does not mean a tool suits you. The Fit box on each tool page (Beginner, Expert or Developer, plus "Good fit if" and "Not for you if") tells you who it is for.
- Pricing. We show pricing only as we found it on the official site. If we could not confirm it, the page says "Pricing not verified".
- Comparisons. Showdown pages use each tool's official pricing and docs pages (with the date we checked) and link every user complaint to its source.
Sponsorship never changes scores
Paying cannot buy a higher score or rank, and not paying cannot lower one. Sponsored placements and ads are always labelled and kept apart from the ranked lists. Details: how rankings, ads and affiliate links work.
